# Makerstow

## Identity

Makerstow is Steven's production enterprise. It controls the path from sketch or image to physical product through design, processing, and CNC manufacturing. The atelier is in Oostzaan and is connected to SGDesign, Steven's art and design practice.

## Work

Makerstow makes original generative art objects and physical design pieces. Gaussian relief and ASCII work are important bases for current output. Documented product categories include Japanese manhole-cover works in 40 and 60 cm formats, table tops for side tables and coffee tables, lamps using epoxy-cast molds, and original works sold through auction.

## Philosophy

The work is tied to The Manifest by Steven Gijzendorffen, written on 18 January 2011. The theme is a celebration of technology and nature. The philosophy treats form as a visible expression of thought and connects creative work with responsibility, adaptation, and the relation between people, tools, and environment.

## Process

The Makerstow process starts with an idea for a product, including audience, reach, carrier, and protection or intellectual-property questions. The idea becomes a sketch or prototype drawing. The drawing is then vectorized, for example from an image into a workable vector file. A material or carrier is selected, such as canvas, ceramic, epoxy, a manhole-cover form, or a table top. A prototype output is made, evaluated, and then produced through CNC milling or CNC plotting.

## Materials and production

The documented material range includes canvas, ceramics, epoxy, manhole-cover objects, and table tops. CNC milling and CNC plotting connect the digital design stage to the physical object. This is the practical link between generative image work and a finished product.

Makerstow uses an auction sales form for original works. The auction category is a focused route for works where originality, authenticity, topicality, and craftsmanship matter to the buyer.
